OpenID Enabled

Filed Under (Website, Wordpress) by Joyce on 30-07-2007

Many of you must have noticed the OpenID field above the comment form. Yes, now the blog is OpenID enabled. You can login to the site and post comments using your OpenID. If you do not have an OpenID, I recommend you to get one. There are many free OpenID providers.

I had a little trouble configuring and setting up the Wordpress OpenID plugin with my theme.

I am out of station for the next 3 days. Once I’m back, I’ll provide more information on how I configured it on my blog.

If you would like to know more about OpenID, then please visit this  Wikipedia article and the official OpenID website.

Nice work, Joyce. I like the idea of OpenID but not too many people are using it yet, and it’s not a perfect system but it does simplify things alot.

It looks like the OpenID system has some problems. The display name is always being shown as Anonymous and the url as the OpenID url.

Once I comment on a blog, my details are stored in the comment forms there, so I dont bother using openID. But, I think there is no harm in giving it a shot

In due course of time, I am sure that OpenID will become more popular. Also there is an option to automatically register the user who has signed in using openid to the site userlist.
