Local Analytics Update

Sorry, this is not a post announcing the release of the latest version of Local Analytics. I wanted to update the plugin to the latest ga.js from urchin.js yesterday. Unfortunately, I couldn’t turn on my computer yesterday due to power failure. I have my first exam tomorrow and I’ll try to release the updated version after that.

Thanks to Carl and DG for notifying me about the update to Google Analytics.

Exams

Since my exams are round the corner, I won’t be able to post on this blog for almost a month. I would like to thank each and every visitors of this blog for the support you have provided so far. I will be back soon and take care till then.

Btw, if anyone is interested in Guest Blogging on this blog, while I am away, I will be only happy to allow you do that. Thanks.

My first award

Green RA ProjectI feel greatly honored and really happy to let you know that I won my first award for this blog –  The ‘Readers First’ Award for November 2007. The award is given by the Readers Appreciation project for blogs that appreciate the value of their readers. I am in November’s winners list because I always ensure that I reply to each comment I get on this blog.

Joyce is also very good at responding to readers in the comments section, which is always commendable.

I was recommended for the award by David, for the support I provided for Local Analytics.

David: I would like to recommend Joyce for your readers first award. I am not sure whether he is a member of Reader Appreciation Project, but he has been providing very good support for his plugin.

David, if you still read this blog, please leave a comment on this post so that I can give you some link love 🙂 .

And before I conclude this post, I would like to thank David and all my readers for visiting the blog and sharing your opinions.

Make money by participating in contests

Holding a contest is one of the best way to increase visitors and your feedburner subscriber count. Participating in contests is one of the best way to make money online. The contest blogger is a cool blog that lists all the currently running competitions in the blogosphere.

I occassionally participate in competitions hosted by other blogs and have so far won 4 prizes.

  1. A free domain name of my choice from Thomas Sinfield
  2. A free ad spot in JonLee.ca
  3. $500 from JohnCow.com
  4. And Finally, $25 in cash and a free review from Cyber Street Report

I would like to thank all the above bloggers for their awesome prizes.

Thank you Mr. Cow

I have a happy news to share today. You might be remembering my third post last month on “How to win and spend $500” over at JohnCowdotCom.  I was talking over the phone today when my mail client reported a new mail. It was a report from my blog reporting a new pingback from JohnCowdotCom with the title “Announcing 8 (!) Winners“. I checked the post and I became dumbstruck for a few minutes and couldn’t believe that I have actually won the $500.

There are some changes on how I am going to spend the money (I hope Bob wouldn’t mind it 😉 ). I have already given the order for my new MacBook. Also I have decided not to change my web host, but go for the next higher plan with my current host.

BTW, there is another good news for all the WordPress users. I am developing a new plugin for making your WordPress blogs mobile friendly. I know there are some other similar plugins available, but I am trying to make the plugin a lot more customizable and search engine friendly. I am presently having some problem with URL rewriting. Once I sort it out, the plugin will be released without much delay.

A final thanks to JohnCow and Micfo for the great prize.

My first $100 month

Today I am very happy. The month I started using Adsense, which was almost eight months back, my net earning was just $60. From then on, my monthly earning showed a gradual increase. But I always had to wait for two months to break the $100 threshold. I have been waiting for this moment from the first day I started using Adsense. And finally last month, July 2007, I earned $101.04. During the first few days of last month, I doubted whether it was going to attain even the $50 mark. Fortunately, there was a substantial increase in my pageviews and clicks during the last two weeks which helped me to overcome the slow start.

I never expected it was going to cross the threshold this month. But by the beginning of last week of the month, I became hopeful and started waiting for the moment. The final update of a days net earning usually occurs after a few minutes past 12 PM IST. When I checked my balance at 11:45 AM, it was $99.98. The next fifteen minutes had been extremely thrilling. And when I next refreshed my account, I almost jumped with joy. And finally, the most happiest moment of my life as a webmaster arrived.

CyberStreetReport Competition

Last week I won the CyberStreetReport Survey #2. The aim of the survey was to predict the price at which Apple (AAPL) will close atleast five days before. I predicted $144 and the correct price was $143.75. I won $25 cash prize and will be soon getting a blog review too. I would like to thank Reno for the competition and prize.

Update: Unfortunately, due to low response from visitors, Reno has decided to end the competition with Survey #3. But he has promised to run more competitions once the site is established.

How To Ace A Walk-in Panel Job Interview

It has been a long gap since my last post. I was fully occupied with my exams.

Recently, I had submitted an article in JobMob, a popular employment related blog, on the topic “How To Ace A Walk-in Panel Job Interview“. Fortunately, they have approved the article and have it published in the site as a guest post.

In the article, I have tried to point out many of the common mistakes made by interviewees. Also tips on how to prepare for the interview, how to behave at the venue and how to answer the questions are also discussed. Also, there is section on preparing and attending a phone interview.

The article was posted as part of a Guest Blogging Contest conducted by the above site. The guest post getting the largest number of visitors during the 7 days period, following the date of posting, will win the contest.

I humbly request you to visit the article and post your comments on it.

Busy with exams

My 6th semester exams started today. Today’s exam went fine, though there was some problem with time management. Hence, I won’t be able to blog regularly till August. I will try to find time in between. So far I had 500 visits, which is not that bad stat for a new blog like this. Thanks to all for reading the blog and for your valuable suggestions.
